Mission Statement

The Sarasota Fern and Tropical Plant Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to learning and exchanging information relating to the propagation, growth, culture, and identification of all kinds of tropical plants, but with emphasized interest in ferns and fern allies.

Regular Meetings

Non-members and guests are always welcome. Meetings are held February thru November, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 PM, at various locations throughout the Sarasota, Florida, area. Meeting information is published monthly in our electronic newsletter. Please use the easy sign-up form below to add your name to our mailing list.


Our newsletter is published approximately every month, sometimes less fequently. Each issue will contain valuable information about upcoming meetings and field trips. If you choose to subscribe, we promise to never share your contact information with any third parties. Each newsletter will contain an un-subscribe link for your convenience should you ever in the future decide you'd rather not receive news from us.


There are no special requirements to become a member. If you have an interest in Tropical Plants you are encouraged to join us. Plants ownership and/or prior growing experience is not required.

Annual Dues

Membership dues are collected on a calendar year basis:

  • One person: $12.00.
  • Two or more persons, sharing the same address: $15.00.
  • Students: Free.
